SEASIDE — Plumb the depths of seafood at the “Cracking and Cooking Christmas Crab” cooking class at 1 p.m. Saturday in the Seaside Public Library’s Community Room, 1131 Broadway St.
The class is limited to 15 people and will be taught by Jennifer Burns Bright. Sign up is required at the circulation desk or by phone.
The class will feature instruction on how to buy and serve Dungeness crab at holiday gatherings. There will be hands on demonstrations using local catch to prepare classic dishes. This workshop is a culinary primer on basic techniques and recipes for affordable local crab. Attendees can be involved in prepping, cooking and serving.
Burns Bright is a food and travel writer based in the Pacific Northwest. She recently retired from teaching at the University of Oregon, where she led a faculty research group in the emerging discipline of food studies.
