Sunday, April 7, brings two opportunities to see Tao Orion present “Whole Systems Ecological Restoration: Rethinking the Role of Invasive Species.”

The presentations take place 1:30 to 3:30 p.m. at Fort George Brewery’s Community Room at Duane and 14th streets in Astoria, and 5:30 to 7:30 p.m. at St. Catherine Episcopal Church, 36335 U.S. Highway 101, between Manzanita and Nehalem.

This presentation will focus on developing a whole systems-based understanding of invasive species as a foundation for holistically managing their populations.

Orion is the author of “Beyond the War on Invasive Species: A Permaculture Approach to Ecosystem Restoration.”

Also consider attending the “Eat the Invaders” dinner with Andy Catalano featuring Japanese knotweed, 5:30 to 8 p.m. Monday, April 8, at Salmonberry Saloon, 380 Marine Drive, Wheeler.

Catalano, owner of Alimento Astoria, will grace us with multiple approaches to this versatile plant. Chefs from Salmonberry Saloon are on deck to add their touches.

This multi-course meal (with dessert) will be interspersed with brief talks from Orion and leaders from the Lower Nehalem Watershed Council and Tillamook Estuaries Partnership.
