NEHALEM — Do you think you can make a difference in how the environment around your home, or the water and air quality in your neighborhood, are impacted by industrial uses of forestlands?

You can learn from Lincoln County citizens who passed a measure that banned aerial spraying of pesticides in their county in a presentation, titled “Community Rights: What they are and where did they go?,” at 6 p.m. Tuesday, March 12, at the North County Recreation District gallery.

Presenters Barbara Davis and Debra Fant are board members of Lincoln County Community Rights, which brought Measure 21-177 to the May 2017 ballot and banned aerial spraying of pesticides in Lincoln County. The measure was the first measure in the U.S. to ban aerial spraying of pesticides by a vote of the people and remains the law today.

North Coast Communities for Watershed Protection, previously known as Rockaway Beach Citizens for Watershed Protection, meets at NCRD the Second Tuesday of every month. This is the first educational presentation in the “Speak Truth to Power” series of talks.
