Seaside First Saturday Art Walk

SEASIDE — Celebrating 14 years in 2018, the next Seaside First Saturday Art Walk, will be held 5 to 7 p.m. Dec. 1.

Visitors meet artists, snag appetizers by favorite restaurants or personal chefs, view artist demonstrations and enjoy live performances in music.

The free event takes place between Holladay Drive and Broadway Street in the historic district of downtown Seaside.

609 Broadway St.

Shine Fair Trade offers exclusive art where everything is handmade. Featuring “Namaste” in December, hand-knitted shawls, gloves and socks produced by artisans in Nepal who are changing their lives through their work.

606 Broadway St.

Upcycle artist Patty Thurlby brings 2018 to a whimsical end with “A One of a Kind Christmas,” creating tabletop Christmas trees, wall art and holiday decor — all composed of found objects and vintage bric-a-brac. Mixed-media artist Lauda Gilman shares knitted elf hats, steampunk refrigerator magnets and tree ornaments, and Cathy Tippin has new broken china jewelry and gifts.

Spode’s “Christmas Tree” is a popular pattern of Christmas china collected by people around the world. For the Art Walk, a private collection amassed over more than three decades is being released by the founder of Pacific Heirloom, including platters, place settings and serving dishes.

612 Broadway St.

Opening artist reception for “All is Calm,” an exhibition featuring the art of Susan Romersa. The Seaside artist paints in oil, celebrating the beauty in portraits and figure paintings.

In addition, Fairweather’s annual harp petting zoo, featuring beautiful Limerick harps by Northwest woodcrafter Duane Bolster. Naturalist Neal Maine will speak at 6 p.m. about the quietness found in the local habitat during the winter. Plus, Art Walk hostess cookie exchange, live music performed by Shirley 88 and complimentary gifts for patrons.

Art-in-the-Loft at Beach Books will host a group show and holiday art sale during December, featuring the work of artists who have shown in the gallery before. “An Art-Filled Holiday” will be an exciting and eclectic show with plenty of framed, original wall art and art prints available to purchase.

10A N. Holladay Drive

Seaside Yarn and Fiber, a knitting, yarn and craft shop, focuses on community building by offering a free Knit Night, plus a rotating selection of all-ages knitting and crafting classes.

12 N. Holladay Drive

The Whet Spot offers a relaxed, friendly, adults-only atmosphere where patrons can catch up with old friends while enjoying craft beers, ciders and wines. Featuring the art of pouring with 20 rotating taps for craft beers and ciders, a Growler filling station and offering wines by the glass.

417 S. Holladay Drive

Amazing paintings by artist Blue Bond done in oil on canvas. Animals, people, still life and wonderful scenery pictures will delight Art Walk guests.

810 Broadway St.

Westport Winery Seaside creates custom gift baskets and offers complimentary gift-wrapping.

811 First Ave.

An art motel by the sea located in a Victorian villa where each room features art from Oregon artists. The art at the motel is curated by Chris Haberman.
