ASTORIA — The community is invited to the MERTS campus open house 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. Friday, May 4. This exciting one-day event includes fun activities for all ages, demonstrations and vendor displays.

The Clatsop Community College MERTS (Marine and Environmental Research and Training Station) campus, Oregon’s designated Maritime Training College, houses the College’s Maritime Science Department, Fire Response & Research Center, the Living Machine and the Industrial & Manufacturing Technology Center, including Automotive Technology, Welding and Historic Preservation and Restoration.

All programs will feature displays and interactive demonstrations, and tours of the college’s training vessel M/V Forerunner.

Visitors can also meet representatives from Clatsop’s Business department and college admissions, try out a virtual welding machine and explore the National Guard and Air National Guard displays.

The MERTS campus is located three miles east of Astoria off U.S. Route 30 on Liberty Lane. Enjoy the afternoon visiting the campus and explore the Clatsop Community College MERTS educational facilities.
