ILWACO, Wash. — The Water Music Festival will host a special Christmas concert from 2 to 4 p.m. Sunday, Dec. 14 at the Inn at Harbour Village, located at 120 Williams Ave. N.E.

Enjoy hot and cold beverages, an array of homemade cookies and other sweet treats. The Ilwaco High School show choir will open the festive afternoon concert, and classical guitarist Scott Kritzer will perform Christmas and other holiday favorites.

Kritzer’s commitment to technical excellence forms a solid structure beneath his unparalleled sense of musicality. He has received over a decade of accolades from audiences and critics alike, in concert halls in San Francisco; Germany; Vancouver, British Columbia; Los Angeles; Sapporo, Japan; New York; London and more. In 1996, Kritzer was chosen by Oregon Sen. Mark O. Hatfield to represent the state of Oregon in a special performance at the Kennedy Center for the Performing Arts in Washington, D.C.

In addition to a busy concert schedule, Kritzer is a sought after instructor of the classical guitar. His method is taught to both local students through private and informal workshops as well as to students from all parts of the United States, China, England, Norway, Dubai, and Ireland through an innovative Internet format.

Epic Echo, the Ilwaco High School show choir, will begin the concert. Receiving an “excellent” rating at the Disney Institute competition last spring in Orlando, Florida, the choir took second place in its division. In addition to the competition, the choir participated in concerts and highly valuable workshops. Rachel Lake, music director at the school, reports that the experience was life-changing for the group, none of whom had ever been exposed to the level of instruction and competition afforded by the Disney Institute.

There is a $5 suggested donation at the door. A portion of the proceeds will help fund educational workshop and performance opportunities for local school music programs.
