Astoria — The American Association of University Women will present its annual scholarship benefit at 7 p.m. Friday, Nov. 21 and at 6:45 p.m. Saturday, Nov. 22 at the First Presbyterian Church.

This year’s program will have a slight change in its format. The dessert will be served, as usual, Saturday evening with the reading of the play and the raffle. The Friday evening performance will not include the dessert.

Under the direction of Susi Brown, Karen Kenyon, Donna Wright, Toni Ihander, Rhonda Alderman and Nancy Montgomery will present “Love, Loss and What I Wore,” a play by Nora and Delia Ephron.

This production is a series of monologues and ensemble pieces about women, clothes and memory. It covers important subjects, such as mothers, prom dresses, mothers, buying bras, mothers, hating purses, the wearing of black and, of course, mothers.

The play is based on the bestselling autobiographical piece written and illustrated by Ilene Beckerman. It is funny, compelling, poignant and revealing.

“Love, Loss and What I Wore” is presented with permission by Dramatists Play Service, Inc.

Doors will open at 6:30 p.m. Friday and at 6 p.m. Saturday. Tickets cost $10 for Friday and $15 for Saturday and are available through AAUW members and at the door.

The First Presbyterian Church is located at 1103 Grand Ave., near 11th and Harrison streets. For information, call Sara Meyer at 503-325-7969.
