Galizio will discuss the results of the recently published study by The Century Foundation focused on increasing economic and racial stratification of U.S. higher education. With community colleges often the only realistic postsecondary option for low-income students, the underinvestment in these institutions is increasing inequality. The Century Foundation Report recommends changes such as adequacy-based funding for higher education and guaranteed transfer policies to help alleviate challenges faced by low-income students.
Join Galizio for an engaging evening of inquiry into this important topic that affects our entire community. The Fort George Lovell Showroom is located at 14th and Duane streets in Astoria. Doors open at 6 p.m. Seasonal beers are on tap; food and other beverages are available for purchase. Minors are welcome.
Galizio attended Santa Barbara City College and the University of California at Santa Barbara before earning his undergraduate degree in Industrial/Organizational Psychology from UC Berkeley. He earned his masters degree in communication studies from San Francisco State University, and his Ph.D. from the School of Urban and Public Affairs at Portland State University.
