Astoria Rail Preservation Association to hold open house

ASTORIA The Astoria Railroad Preservation Association will hold its annual open house from noon to 6 p.m. Sunday, Sept. 22.

The Steam Locomotive Restoration Shop located at 446 W. Marine Drive will be opened to the public, giving them the opportunity to see the progress ARPA has made during the past year on restoring Locomotive No. 21 to running condition.

Adjacent to the shop, in the parking lot of the Portway Tavern, there will be a free barbecue, hosted by the Astoria Lions Club, and live music . Featured bands will include Jackson Andrews; The Kevin Violette Experience; Hans, Fritz and Jacques, featuring John Crowley and Peter Unander; and Scooters Blues Band, featuring Tom Schmit, Doug Thompson and Kenny Demps.
