CANNON BEACH – The Surfsand Resort welcomes friendly canine competition with its 14th annual Dog Show on the Beach on the resort’s seaside back yard. Pooches from around the Northwest and beyond will compete for top honors in various categories including Oldest Looking Dog, Best Frisbee Catch, Cutest Puppy, Best Bark and Owner Look-alike.

Join doggy participants and their people at Surfsand Resort, 148 W. Gower St., as they raise money for the Clatsop County Animal Shelter. Over the past 13 years, the annual Dog Show on the Beach has raised more than $13,000 to support the operations of the shelter.

Field events may be cancelled because of inclement weather and the schedule is subject to change. Event divisions are based on the dog’s age or weight.

11:30 a.m. – Most Handsome Dog (two divisions)

11:45 a.m. – “So Ugly You’re Cute” Dog

12:15 p.m. – Most Colorful Dog (two divisions)

12:30 p.m. – Obstacle Course (two divisions)
