CANNON BEACH – Established in 1971, White Bird Gallery is among the oldest galleries in Oregon and continues to be a longstanding tradition for visitors to the Oregon Coast. With four decades in the same location, White Bird was one of the first galleries to fully integrate fine art and studio craft, while playing an important role in the history of Cannon Beach’s art scene and the development of its current local art community.

Founded by Evelyn Georges, who recently retired after 39 years as owner and director, the gallery moves forth with a continuum of artists and craftspeople who have contributed to the eclectic sensibility of this important Northwest gallery. Highlighting originality, handcrafted and contemporary art, White Bird Gallery is currently hosting a 40th anniversary exhibition – a large group show featuring new works by its main gallery artists.
Regionally recognized and nationally known artists and artisans are represented, with a variety of styles and media providing a cross-section of the painting, sculpture, printmaking, mixed media, glass, clay, jewelry and wood that comprise the individuality and diversity among gallery artists. The 40th anniversary exhibition will run through Aug. 15.
In honor of this milestone, White Bird Gallery will host a 40th anniversary party from 4 to 7 p.m. Saturday, Aug. 6. All are welcome to come and celebrate the past, the future, the art, the craft and the people who have contributed to the gallery over the years.
