Were off to Astoria to see the Wizard

ASTORIA – The Astor Street Opry Company presents the 2011 Winter Children’s Theatre production of “The Wizard of Oz,” beginning March 4 and running to March 20 at 7:30 p.m. Fridays and Saturdays and 2 p.m. Sundays with the doors opening one half hour before curtain, at the ASOC Playhouse, 129 West Bond St.

See Dorothy, Scarecrow, Tin Man, Cowardly Lion and Toto as they make their way to Oz to meet the Wizard. In Munchkinland, meet Glinda the Good Witch, the Wicked Witch with her Flying Monkeys and a cast of more than 35 local young performers ready to take you down the Yellow Brick Road.
Delightful songs, bright costumes and fun sets make this a memorable time for the whole family. Tickets are $10 for adults and $6 for kids 12 and younger. Prepurchased reservations are recommended for best seating by calling the box office at (503) 325-6104, or at the door one hour before each show.
Sponsored by CMH Pediatrics and The New Northwest Broadcasters, this musical theater presentation was adapted by Kathryn Schultz Miller and directed by Cindy Howe, with music direction by ChrisLynn Taylor.
