Lush Wine Bar in Cannon Beach calls for talent

CANNON BEACH -Lush Wine Bar is now having music sessions from 7 to 9 p.m. the first Wednesday of the month. The evening, which Paul Dueber calls “Baga’s Front Room” in honor of his grandmother, will feature song, conversation and wine. “Growing up, one of our family/village events was to gather in my Grandma’s (aka Baga) front room,” said Dueber, “and play and sing with friends and neighbors. Few, if any, were professional musicians or songsters. We sang, chatted, snacked, sipped wine and enjoyed our friends and the music.”

Got a poem? What to sing a song? Tell a story? If you want to gather for fun and show off your talent, then you might want to check out the Open Mic nights, from 7 to 9 p.m. every Wednesday during the month except the first. Dueber will host the Open Mic, in an evening devoted to story, rhyme and whatever else might amuse and entertain the crowd. And yes, you can sing or play a musical instrument, even if you go to “Baga’s Front Room” the first Wednesday.

Lush Wine Bar is located at 1235 S. Hemlock St. and can be reached at (503) 436-8500.

Why do they call it Lush Wine Bar? The name refers to a description of wines, used by wine reviewers and aficionados, which means the wine is velvety, soft and richly fruity, never astringent or hard.
