CANNON BEACH – Tickets are on sale now at the Cannon Beach Gallery for a “green-inspired” fashion show, “Random Scraps of Fabric,” to be held at 7 p.m. Thursday, June 3, at the Coaster Theater, 108 N. Hemlock St. Tickets are $10 each, with the proceeds going toward the many programs that the CBAA sponsors throughout the year, including the Individual Artist Grant.

The CBAA’s 2009 recipient for the Individual Artist Grant, Bonny Gorsuch, has created a line of garments and accessories created from 100 percent recycled textiles and fabrics. Regional and statewide current events were used as the subject matter for the garments. The clothing line will be on display at the Cannon Beach Gallery starting with an opening reception from 6 to 8 p.m. Saturday, June 5, and running through June 21.

The Cannon Beach Arts Association Individual Artist Grant is awarded annually to an artist, musician or writer working out of Cannon Beach or Arch Cape. The deadline for the 2010 grant is Sept. 15.

The Cannon Beach Art Association is also announcing a logo contest in an open call for artists. The logo will represent the Cannon Beach Gallery on a new tote bag, which will be released in conjunction with the first Cannon Beach Farmer’s Market. The CBAA will hold a reception to honor the prize winner as part of its Time Out Tuesday Night celebrations and display the logo on its website. The deadline for all entries is 1 to 4 p.m. Tuesday, June 1. Let everyone see your work and become a part of the CBAA legacy of emerging and established artists.

In addition, Jennifer Zika of the Portland Art Museum’s Rental Sales Gallery will be the next guest juror at the Cannon Beach Gallery. The show has the theme “Sea Creatures” and will run through the height of summer, opening June 26 and running through Aug. 2. Artists interested in submitting work should bring their original pieces to the Cannon Beach Gallery between 10 a.m. and 4 p.m. Thursday, June 24. All artwork needs to be exhibition ready, for sale (the gallery takes a 40 percent commission) and have been completed within the past two years.

The Cannon Beach Gallery is a program of the nonprofit Cannon Beach Arts Association and is located at 1064 S. Hemlock St. The gallery is open from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Thursdays through Mondays.
