SKAMOKAWA, Wash. – The Friends of Skamokawa will hold the annual Skamokawa Wine and Cheese Evening with silent and live auction from 7 to 10 p.m. Saturday, Sept. 13. The event will be at Skamokawa Grange, located near the fairgrounds, opposite Redmen Hall. The theme this year is “From Tasmania to Romania” and will feature wines from many different wine-producing locations.
The silent auction goes from 7 to 9:30 p.m. The live auction begins at 8 p.m. under the direction of auctioneer Rob Stockhouse.
Tickets are $15 per person and include unlimited wine tasting and tasty treats. Advance tickets are available from Bank of the Pacific, Trillium Books and Redmen Hall. Tickets will also be available at the door. This is a 21 and older event.
The Friends of Skamokawa wish to thank all the generous donors of auction items. This is the main fundraising event of the year for the organization, raising funds for the maintenance and historic, artistic and educational programs supported by the Redmen Hall Interpretive Center. Donations this year include a 38-volume, individually bound new set of Shakespeare’s works, and a charming photograph of Marilyn Monroe taken in 1954 when she was on her way to Korea to entertain the troops.
There will be a variety of items at many price levels so that everyone who attends the event has the opportunity to participate in either the silent or live auction. Visitors can enjoy the wines procured by George Exum and food that caterer Serene Snow has created for this special event.
