The group has been singing together in various formations since 1997. Most recently, three of them were members of the world vocal ensemble Madrigaia, and now offer new, original material as well as popular and traditional songs in a cappella style.
With a solo percussionist as their main musical support, Chic Gamine members use their voices as instruments, launching into intricate string arrangements, bass-heavy rhythm sections and melodious harmonies. Their program combines vocal roots music with gospel, soul and African, Middle-Eastern, Latin and French-Canadian folk for an all-encompassing sound that has entertained everyone from the Governor General of Canada to crowds of thousands in Haiti.
