Old Town Framing will present the works of Jody Miller from 5 to 9 p.m. Saturday, Aug. 9, in conjunction with Astoria’s Second Saturday Art Walk. Miller will be at the gallery for her inaugural show in Astoria. Refreshments by Anna will be served.

This show is a collection of North Coast location photographs from Miller’s unique perspective. “Landscape photography, both rural and urban, is a great love of mine, and I love capturing the endlessly changing natural light on both beautiful and desolate scenes,” she said. “Astoria has grown close to my heart for its tremendous original soul, its history and its amazing natural beauty. I hope to be making images here in Astoria for many years to come.” Miller splits her time between Astoria and Los Angeles, and has taken photographs in this country and overseas.

For the past 30 years, Miller has worked in the television industry as an art director and animator, and her passion for photography melds beautifully with her profession, according to Dulcye Taylor of Old Town Framing Company. Recently her work has garnered attention from publishers and last summer she was invited to exhibit at the Tate Gallery in London. “Ullswater Barn” now hangs in their permanent archive.

Miller studied with Ansel Adams in 1982, the last year he was able to teach. Adams died in April 1984. “I was grateful to have spent some time with him, and it solidified my enduring passion for photography,” said Miller.
