New gallery in Garibaldi extends grand opening

GARIBALDI – The G Art Gallery has extended its grand opening. The event, which is open to the public, is scheduled from 5 to 9 p.m. Friday, Dec. 7. Showcased will be the work of the original 12 artists, along with three new participating artists. Food, beverages and live music will be offered, along with a chance to meet many of the artists.
Additionally, the evening will honor Merrill Jeanne Holly, who passed away Nov. 9.. Holly was instrumental in forming the gallery and her work serves as tribute to her talent. Together with owners, Steve and Kay King, Holly set up a legacy ensuring net proceeds from the sales of her original oil paintings, giclees and art cards (available at the G Art Gallery) will support the Hospice Society in Clatsop County.
Participating artists include:
Carl Hand, of Portland, works in fused glass.
Allyson Kull, of Portland, works in metal/glass, bronzes and acrylics. She has done “Pod People” and introspective self-portraits.
Rick Young, of Rockaway Beach, does fine wood turning, including exotic woods. The artist is featured in galleries in Colorado and Hawaii , as well as Oregon.
Solfrid Price is a photographer inspired by the beautiful fjords of Norway, where she was born. Price now lives in Seaside, and will show mostly Oregon landscape photography and art cards.
Kit Mulcahy is a watercolor painter who lives in Lincoln City.
Stephan Seable is a painter, sculptor, metal worker and art teacher who lives in Grants Pass and has family in Garibaldi. Seable has won numerous awards and is featured in collections worldwide.
Suz Morrow, a painter in acrylics, does chiefly ocean scenes and birds. She lives in Bay City.
Catherine Clark paints in oils and pastels. A teacher and award-winning artist, Clark enjoys painting series. She formerly owned a gallery in Idaho and is now a local resident.
Angela Baumgartner, an award-winning artist and writer from Seaside, works in photography, oils and acrylics, cards and studio-recorded poetry.
Christy Phillips-Matlock is a painter from Svensen and a member of the Fisher Poets. For this show, she has on display bold, colorful paintings of women.
Tony Harris is a young photographer from Garibaldi.
Geoff Schmidt, of Cannon Beach, paints mostly landscapes in oils and does triptych work.
Karen Trammel, of Hammond, is an oil painter who does mostly botanical and forest themes.
Camille Youngquist, of Seaside, does post-impressionistic (combined with realism) paintings in oil and acrylic.
