SEASIDE – The 23rd annual Barbershop Cabaret, presented by the Seaside Chamber of Commerce and Quartet Champions of the Evergreen District, is a rockin’, rollin’, snappin’ and tappin’ weekend of entertainment Friday and Saturday, Jan. 19 and 20, at the Seaside Convention Center, 425 First Ave. in Seaside. The cabaret will feature vocal harmonies from national and international competition winners and the best of the Pacific Northwest.
The Friday show includes performances by a number of the quartets and a special presentation by the Seaside High School Jazz Choir. Saturday will feature an impressive display of all of the quartets singing in harmony as well as individual quartet performances.
The Evergreen District of the Barbershop Harmony Society includes groups from Alaska, Washington, Idaho, Oregon and Montana as well as British Columbia and Alberta, Canada.
Doug Barker, event coordinator for the Seaside Chamber and longtime cabaret chairman, is greatly enthusiastic about this year’s festival. “This is a nonstop show of music in harmony that you won’t believe,” said Barker. “These guys have updated the barbershop traditions and brought them into the 21st century with modern songs from a variety of genres. And they are the best. Not only district champions, but national and international winners serve up an evening of entertainment you just have to hear.”
On Friday, the doors open at 6 p.m. and the show begins at 7 p.m. Tickets are $15 per person and $5 for students. Saturday, the doors open at 6:30 p.m. and the show begins at 7:30 p.m. Reserved seating tickets are $17 to $20.
