Studio Access & Gallery, 453A 11th St., offers a one-day workshop led by Sherry Yost, “Intro to Vitreous Glass Painting,” from 11 a.m. to 6 p.m. Saturday, April 1.

Vitreous glass painting is the application of colors, stains and enamels made of metal oxides and ground glass pigment mixed with several different mediums, applied and fired on glass. Glass painting adds dimension to leaded and copper foiled works in glass or fused and sculptural glass.

The workshop will feature slides of different applications for glass painting and demonstrations of mixing paints and painting on glass. Yost will talk about equipment, tools, paints, types of glass used, brushes and kilns used in this age-old art. Students will get hands-on experience with glass paint mixing and application, and will learn to fire their experiments.

Cost for the workshop is $125, plus a $25 lab fee. Space is limited. To register, call Studio Access & Gallery at (503) 325-3241.
