Seaside poetry evening features David Beispiel

SEASIDE – Seaside Theater presents Oregon Book Award finalist David Biespiel Wednesday, Nov. 17 in its ongoing Third Wednesday monthly poetry reading. Signup for the open mic portion of the program begins at 7:15 p.m. The evening’s events start at 7:30 p.m., and refreshments will be available during the break between the open mic and the featured poet’s reading. The poetry series and open mic is cohosted by Kevin Johnson and Susan Firghil Park.
Biespiel is the author of the poetry collections “Shattering Air,” “Pilgrims & Beggars” and “Wild Civility,” currently a finalist for the Oregon Book Award. He also writes the First Sunday on Poetry column for The Oregonian.
Biespiel currently teaches in the English Department at Oregon State University and is director and writer-in-residence at The Attic in Portland. Past awards include the National Endowment for the Arts Fellowship in Literature and the Wallace Stegner Fellowship in Poetry.
