Celebrate Chinese New Year with kites

LONG BEACH, Wash. – To celebrate its featured exhibit, “Chinese Kites: Their Art, Myth and Legend,” the World Kite Museum presents a Chinese New Year Mini-Festival Friday, Feb. 6 through Sunday, Feb. 8.

The festival provides activities, guest artists and special events for all ages. Some events are free; others include a charge or suggested donation.

From 2 to 3 p.m. Saturday at Hilltop Middle School in Ilwaco, Wash., is the Tears of Joy Puppet Theatre’s production of “The Toad Prince,” a Chinese folktale. At 7 p.m. a slide show, “Visiting China,” and a story teller with “Chinese Tales” are on the schedule at the Sou’Wester Lodge in Seaview, Wash.
