Upright bass, guitar, mandolin, banjo, fiddle and harmonica make up the instrumentation of the conglomeration from Juneau, Alaska, called the Panhandle Crabgrass Revival Band. The band plays at 9 p.m. Saturday, Jan. 24, at The Voodoo Room, 1102 Marine Drive. Cover is $5.

“Years of collective unemployment have allowed Crabgrass to develop its own thriving and energetic brand of thrummin’ strummin’, to the delight and fright of fans,” states a press release from the group.

Drawing from a varied group of acoustic and electric musicians, Crabgrass formed itself on accident. “The band’s complete lack of ambition to seek real jobs promises expansion of a growing original repertoire of tunes which includes “Hippie Kelp Farmer” and “The Kiss of a Bottle (Is What You Need Tonight),” they said.
