North Coast Symphonic Band presents ‘Suites & Pieces’

ASTORIA — The North Coast Symphonic Band will perform with a prelude by the Northwest Flute Trio at 2 p.m. April 13 on the stage of the Liberty Theatre.

The program, titled “Suites & Pieces, Novelty & Bits,” promises “ear candy ranging from the serious and grand to the danceable and the humorous,” according to conductor Terry Dahlgren.

Selections include Gerald Finzi’s “Lyric Suite” and Henry Mancini’s “The Swing March.”  Doors open at 1 p.m. and Northwest Flute Trio will provide prelude music starting at 1:30 p.m.

Tickets are $15 in advance from the Liberty Theatre Box Office or online at www.libertyastoria.org. Day-of tickets are $20. Admission for middle school students and younger is free with a paying adult.

The band is composed of local musicians of all ages who enjoy learning from each other and maintaining their skill levels.

Rehearsals are from 7 to 9 p.m. on Mondays at the Charlene Larsen Center for the Performing Arts in Astoria. Musicians interested in joining should get on the waitlist by sending an email to Lee Stromquist at encore1@charter.net.
