April art in Seaside: ‘Forces of nature,’ welcoming spring

The Seaside Art Walk returns from 5 to 7 p.m. April 5 in the city’s historic Gilbert District. Dedicated parking for the free monthly event is offered at Holladay Drive and Oceanway Street. Wander downtown to meet local artists, see new work and hear live music.

Beach Bum Designs, 606 Broadway

Laser cutting uses a focused beam to precisely engrave designs into wood, creating intricate shapes, patterns, and even three-dimensional designs. This location, which recently moved from Holladay Drive to Broadway, offers laser design and will show a set of wood engravings.

Fairweather House and Gallery, 612 Broadway

Opening reception for “Forces of Nature,” an exhibition about spring in the Pacific Northwest. The collection features pastel seascape paintings by Seaside artist Kathy Esnard and original oil oceanscape paintings by Lee Munsell, Ron Nicolaides and Carol Thompson.

Seaside acoustic musician Jason Lambert will provide live music in an artist reception at the gallery from 5 p.m. to 6 p.m.

An open house will feature spring-themed journals by Valora Eastman, steampunk jewelry by Janette Louis, quilted paintings by Ronni Harris, sand dollar mosaics and paintings by Mimi Cernyar-Fox. Light appetizers and signature art walk tea will be served.

TigerLily Boutique & Art Gallery, 613 Broadway

Featuring watercolorist Scott C. Johnson, whose work is inspired by the Japanese tradition of soft washes and refined line work in Persian miniatures. The Cannon Beach-based artist’s work reflects the changing moods and impending weather of the Pacific Northwest.

The Whet Spot, 12 Holladay Drive

Continuing to show the work of Seaside abstract artist Kandy Schwartz, along with many other local artists. Patrons can enjoy craft beers, ciders and wines in an expanded gathering room that features a gallery wall for artists.
