CANNON BEACH — Greg Scott has been chosen by the Cannon Beach Chamber of Commerce as its artist of the year for 2025.
As part of the Chamber program, which is now in its second year, Scott will create poster art for the Cannon Beach Sandcastle Contest, held each year in June, and the Stormy Weather Arts Festival, held in November.
Born in Hawaii and raised on Bainbridge Island, Washington, he painted public murals as a teenager and went on to study illustration and entertainment art at the Northwest College of Art and Design in Tacoma.
Scott is now a featured artist at the House of Orange Gallery in Cannon Beach, where he has also led several workshops.
With a style that combines realistic illustration with vivid storytelling about the natural world, his ongoing collection “Kindred” reflects his Pacific Islander heritage and a belief in the interconnectedness of all creatures.
His other influences include “Star Wars,” Nintendo characters, Mount Rainer and the rich marine life of the Pacific Northwest.
