ASTORIA — Fans of “The Goonies” will have a chance to see the movie reappear on the big screen with three showings at Astoria Gateway Cinemas on Jan. 19 and Jan. 20.

Theaters across Oregon will be showing the film this weekend to mark 40 years since its 1985 release, including in Astoria at 4:30 p.m. and 7 p.m. Sunday and 7 p.m. Monday, with a special commentary from film critic Leonard Maltin.

“The Goonies,” which features a group of friends who find a treasure map and set off on a swashbuckling adventure, was filmed in Oregon, with scenes in and around Astoria and Cannon Beach.

Tickets for the Astoria showings are $11.50 each. Showings are also planned in Portland, Salem, Eugene, Bend and Medford.
