For a town of 10,000 people, Astoria has a remarkable roster of places to see and explore. There are museums, breweries, antiques, art galleries, historic homes and, of course, a lot of great seafood.

Not far away are sea stack-laden beaches, lighthouses and hiking trails, wildlife refuges and foggy mountain peaks. All of it is there for Coast Weekend readers to share in the annual Readers’ Choice Awards, which open for nominations this week.

This year’s contest will feature more than 50 categories, from Best Seafood Market to Best Sunset View. Beginning Jan. 8, readers can nominate their favorite businesses, restaurants, baristas and bartenders, musicians, local sports teams and festivals in the Columbia-Pacific region.

Voting will commence after nominations close on Feb. 5 and stay open through Feb. 28. Winners will be announced in March with a special print edition.

Visit Discover Our Coast online and navigate to the Readers’ Choice tab to enter nominations and votes up to once per week, and look for printed voting ballots to appear in February issues of Coast Weekend.
