Fair fun returns to Wahkiakum County

SKAMOKAWA, Wash. — The Wahkiakum County Fair is returning between 9 a.m. and 9 p.m. Thursday, Friday and Saturday.

Thursday’s events include 4-H shows and animal demonstrations. Kids’ rides will be open between 11 a.m. and 7 p.m. Opening day is also senior citizen day and free admission will be offered to Red Hat Society members.

Friday is Armed Forces Day, where admission is free with a U.S. military ID. Activities include goat, sheep, llama and alpaca shows, a 4-H bread-baking activity and a youth market sale.

On Saturday, military members as well as kids ages 12 and under are admitted free. There will be cat and dog shows, a salmon barbecue, a horseshoe competition and a cribbage tournament. All three days will feature Lions Club blackout bingo, stage shows and food vendors.
