SEASIDE — On Saturday, hundreds of corgis and their owners are taking to the sand in a fundraiser for shelter animals at the Oregon Humane Society.
The “Corgi Beach Takeover,” which is being organized by the humane society and the Portland Corgi Meetup group, starts at 10 a.m. near the Seaside Turnaround.
Tickets will be on sale for those who want to sign up for the day’s costume contest and corgi races, and a silent auction will be open through 2:30 p.m. All funds raised throughout the day will benefit the humane society.
Themed costume contests begin at 11 a.m., with categories “Corgi Beach Party” and “Mattel Toy” and the returning “Dynamic Duo” division for corgis and owners, as well as an “Anything Goes” category.
Corgi races start at 12:30 p.m., capped at 128 corgis, and a raffle winner will be drawn at 2 p.m.
Dog owners should plan on bringing supplies to the event, including beach toys, water bowls, leashes, food and water.
Event tickets are $10, available in advance online or on the day of the event, and include a commemorative sticker. Raffle tickets are $1. For more details, visit www.oregonhumane.org/corgi-beach-takeover.
