ASTORIA — Brumfield Gallery has relocated from its location in the historic Occident Building on Marine Drive in Astoria.

The gallery, which focuses on ceramic and mixed media sculpture and contemporary figurative art, has represented a small group of established artists since 2020.

Working at the crossroads of surrealism, symbolism and fantasy, curators and owners, Jane and Mike Brumfield said they “choose work that is engaging on an emotional level — work that speaks to the complicated nature of the human condition.”

Brumfield Gallery first opened in Cannon Beach in 2017, and they are now returning to the same city to merge with Bronze Coast Gallery.

The focus of their work is shifting primarily to ceramic sculpture, so they will carry a reduced number of painters.

While the majority of artists represented by Brumfield will relocate their artwork to the Cannon Beach space, Mark Andres, a Portland-based artist known for his dramatic large-scale oil paintings of Astoria landscapes, will now show his work at Imogen Gallery, so the pieces may remain in the city that inspires it.

“We are delighted that Mark is able to keep representation in Astoria,” said Jane Brumfield, “as location is so important to his work.”

From their new location, Brumfield Gallery will continue hosting monthly art walks, as they did in Astoria.
