- Jeanne Maddox Peterson is the owner of Maddox Dance Studio in Warrenton.
When asked, Maddox Dance Studio owner Jeanne Maddox Peterson describes her Warrenton dance studio as her “home away from home.”
“I have been really proud to say that I think my students feel the same way,” she said. “They always will say, ‘it’s my second home, coming to the studio.’”
This year, Coast Weekend readers selected Maddox Dance Studio as the Best Dance Studio during the Readers’ Choice Awards.
Founded in 1949 by Maddox Peterson, the studio offers an array of classes to its students, ranging from ballet, tap, hip-hop and more. Classes are offered for both children and adults looking to dance.
Maddox Dance Studio is also well known for its annual production of “The Nutcracker,” which features students from the studio’s Little Ballet Theatre, accompanied by an over 50-piece orchestra. Guest artists are often featured in the performance.
Generations of students have continued to learn to dance at Maddox Dance Studio, Maddox Peterson added. Now, the grandchildren and great-grandchildren of former students are being taught at the studio.
Maddox Peterson said that she is grateful to the families who have been with the studio.
“We’re all there to help and contribute to our students’ well-being, as well as their good memories,” she said.
