Vote in the Coast Weekend Photo Contest

Combing through dozens of images submitted by Coast Weekend readers to the paper’s annual photo contest, familiar scenes jump out from the gallery.

Sunset hues are ever-popular with local entries, this time paired with silhouettes of Pier 39, the Skipanon Marina, ships in the Columbia River and the Peter Iredale shipwreck — the latter of which has been more visible than usual lately in response to shifting sand levels.

Coastal wildlife finds its way into the collection, with images of elk, deer, shorebirds, and tide pool creatures, even a frog and a newt. Rounding out the gallery are images of mushrooms, bridges, sculptures and driftwood forts.

By the time this issue of Coast Weekend goes to print, all entries will be in and the contest will have moved into the voting window. Through Dec. 31, return to the gallery page to browse and vote as often as once per day for your favorite images.

The entry with the highest number of reader votes will appear in a January issue as the winner of the People’s Choice Award, along with first, second and third place winners chosen by The Astorian.
