The winter semester concludes with, at 10 am “Chautauqua,” Jeannine Jordan’s presentation on this uniquely American institution, founded in 1874 as an educational experiment in “vacation learning.” It was hugely successful and immediately broadened to include summer courses in the four pillars of music, art, religion and knowledge. Spring Whale Watch Week

All along the coast

Watch as majestic Gray whales and their calves migrate north to their cold-water summer feeding grounds. This year’s event is do-it-yourself, with no volunteers at the whale watch sites.
