FORT CLATSOP — Lewis and Clark National Historical Park celebrates Junior Rangers on Friday and Saturday, March 29 and 30, as part of Junior Ranger Days.

At 10 a.m. and 2 p.m. both days, gather outside the Visitor Center to watch an original puppet show, “Newfies Know.” Based on the Lewis and Clark Expedition’s journal entries, the story recounts all mentions of Capt. Meriwether Lewis’ Newfoundland dog, Seaman. The show is performed by Jan Hanson of Solarity Puppetry.

The show lasts about 45 minutes. Along the way attendees will meet animals, Native Americans and members of the expedition. “Solarity Puppetry” is a literacy-based, solar-powered puppet theater caravan where stories come to life.

Junior Ranger books for children 5 and up will be available throughout the day. At 11 a.m. and 3 p.m., you may also join a ranger for a guided sensory exploration walk on a one-mile trail.

These events are included in the $7/adult general admission or with a park pass.
