Members of the Clatsop County Stringband are Larry Moore on mandolin, Knox Swanson on guitar, Gina Kytr on fiddle, and Hobe Kytr on banjo.

ASTORIA — Astoria’s First Friday Contra Dance series starts up again on Friday, Oct. 5, at the Astoria Arts & Movement Center.

Caller Dave Ambrose will teach and call dances. The Clatsop County Stringband will provide live music.

Basics for beginners start at 7 p.m. The contra dance starts at 7:30 p.m. All dances taught. No partner or experience is necessary.

Admission is on a sliding scale: $5 to $10 per person. Children 12 and younger are admitted free. The center is located at 342 10th St., between Commercial and Duane in downtown Astoria.
