CANNON BEACH — Spanish guitar meets modern American piano. New meets old. Classical meets jazz. From Claude Bolling to Antonio Lauro, Gershwin to Manuel de Falla, the eclectic Goldsmith/Rizzo guitar and piano duo continues its two-woman mission to create unforgettable encounters with genre-transcending music for fun-loving listeners.
Guitarist Pamela Goldsmith and pianist Rhonda Rizzo perform a mixture of classical and new music. Hear their American keys and Spanish strings in concert at 7:30 p.m. Saturday, April 25 at the Coaster Theatre.
The two musicians have appeared together at the Umpqua Community College Concert Series, Linfield College, The Old Church, Water Music Festival, Montinore Estate Vineyards, and more.
Goldsmith is active in the Pacific Northwest as both a solo classical guitarist and collaborative performer. As an educator, she is adjunct guitar professor for Linfield College and maintains a private studio in Portland.
Rizzo has crafted a career as a pianist and a writer. Their joint recording of “Suite for Piano and Guitar” by Oregon composer Jason Heald appears on two CDs: “A Spin on It” and “Collage.”
The Goldsmith/Rizzo Duo is dedicated to bringing great music to everyone and to “unstuffing” classical music.
The concert is sponsored by the Cannon Beach Tourism and Arts Commission. Tickets cost $15 to $20. For more information, call 503-436-1242 or visit coastertheatre.com. The Coaster Theatre is located at 108 N Hemlock St.
