ILWACO, Wash. — The 20th annual “Quilting at the Beach” Peninsula Quilt Guild Exhibition will take place Friday to Sunday, March 20 to 22 at the Columbia Pacific Heritage Museum, located at 115 S.E. Lake St.

With more than 100 quilts on display in three separate galleries, the show exhibits work from some of the area’s most talented fabric artists, all members of the Peninsula Quilt Guild.

The guild started in 1995 with veteran quilt maker Pat Gibson and 10-year quilter Ethel Boler, culminating in the first quilt show at the museum, which showcased about 30 quilts by 17 women. Today, the Peninsula Quilt Guild has 67 members from Washington, Oregon and California.

The quilts displayed will be as varied as the quilters themselves done in many different styles, from art to scrappy and both machine and hand quilted. Various quilting demonstrations, such as paper piecing, hand quilting, appliqué and more will take place throughout the three-day event.

Each year guild members participate in constructing a Prize Quilt to be raffled off during the exhibition. This year’s quilt is done in an Amish style and titled “Beach Cabins.” Tickets for the raffle will be available throughout the show for $1 per ticket. The drawing will be held Sunday afternoon; it is not necessary to be present to win. Proceeds from the ticket sales will go to various charitable organizations on the peninsula and in Pacific County.

Admission to the Quilt Show is free. Hours are from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Friday and Saturday, and from noon to 4 p.m. Sunday.
