Local musicians perform at Hoffman Center

Manzanita — The Hoffman Center will host two local favorites — songwriter Joe Wrabek and the Two Crows Joy duo — in concert together for an evening of original music. Doors open at 6:30 p.m., and the concert will start at 7 p.m. Saturday, Jan. 31. The Hoffman Center is located at 594 Laneda Ave.

Wrabek recently received first-place honors in the United Kingdom Coventry Songwriting Contest in the country category with his song “Playing in the Ruins.” Wrabek never fails to delight audiences. His songs ring with both clever humor and thoughtful irreverence, and no subject is taboo. Amid giggles and guffaws it’s not unusual to see audience members wiping away tears of laughter.

If Wrabek’s new album is not available before the show, there will be a sign-up sheet where guests can add their name to the list to reserve a copy.

Local duo and recording artists Two Crows Joy will join Wrabek on stage. Singer-songwriter Russ Hosley, together with Jane Dunkin, will present Hosley’s songs from their newly released album “Hope & Truth & Dare.” Hosley’s original compositions contain elements from diverse genres, including rock, country, blues and Celtic, which firmly place his music in the increasingly popular Americana genre. The duo’s varied sound includes guitars, fiddle, mandolin and sweet vocal harmonies.

Tickets are $7 at the door. There will be refreshments at no charge. For more information, call the Hoffman Center at 503-368-3846 or visit www.hoffmanblog.org
