- Astoria/Portland band Hook & Anchor will perform Fleetwood Mac's album “Rumors” in its entirety during the second half of the Dec. 13 Astoria concert.
ASTORIA — A rare chance to see Hook & Anchor play in Astoria has appeared on the calendar. Plan to be at the Columbian Theater at 9:15 p.m. Saturday, Dec. 13 to catch these local favorites play one of the best live shows you’ll see this year.
Just off a tour in support of the group’s self-titled debut album, Hook & Anchor blends Americana with classic rock and pop in a way that has won a legion of new fans. The band’s music moves easily from soul-stirring ballads to foot-stomping songs and has audiences up on their feet singing and dancing along.
The band features Kati Claborn on vocals, guitar, banjo and ukeulele; Gabrielle Macrae on vocals and violin; Ryan Dobrowski on drums; Erik Clampitt on vocals, guitar and pedal steel; and Luke Ydstie on bass and vocals.
This show will be the last chance to see Hook & Anchor take its exploration of classic American music one step further, as the group plays Fleetwood Mac’s “Rumors” album in its entirety during the second half of the show. It’s a performance that threatened to blow the roof of Portland’s Misssissippi Studios on its debut, with all five members of the band seamlessly trading lead roles in a set that is equal parts cheeky homage and heart-felt tribute.
And don’t miss opener Gabe Rozell — a country music giant hailing from the California’s far north coast — as he sets the stage for what promises to be a night of music Oregon’s North Coast will remember for a long time.
Tickets are $5 at the door; doors open at 9 p.m. The concert is open to ages 21 and older only. The Columbian Theater is located at 1102 Marine Drive.
