- Talor Falls and Xander Abbott celebrate the downhill stretch on the Astoria Bridge and only one mile left in the Great Columbia Crossing last year. Falls and Abbott finished in 41st and 42nd place.
ASTORIA — Registration for the Great Columbia Crossing 10K run/walk has surpassed the half-way point. That means time is running out to make sure you get the once-a-year opportunity to experience the Astoria Bridge on foot.
The race is set for Sunday, Oct. 12.
The 10K offers a scenic adventure on a fairly flat road with one steep incline to the peak of the bridge. It is the longest continuous truss bridge in North America.
Whether you’re an experienced runner or looking for a family-friendly event, the Great Columbia Crossing 10K appeals to everyone.
The run is an Official USA Track & Field Certified Event (#OR12025LB). Runners will be timed with an electronic chip and will be given a separate start time from walkers.
Participants are required to register in advance for the event. Registration will close when the event reaches capacity of 3,500 participants. Registration is $40 and $45 with electronic timing. Long-sleeve cotton T-shirts cost $16. Register online at www.greatcolumbiacrossing.com, by phone at 503-325-6311, email events@oldoregon.com, or in person at 111 W. Marine Drive.
