The Writing Lounge at the Hoffman Center will be open from 10 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. Wednesday mornings, beginning Jan. 29. Youll find plenty of resources, including books on writing, games and tools to help prompt new writing or a new piece for the monthly Open Mic, as well as local writing mentors for feedback on your works in progress.
The brain child of new Hoffman Center board members Marcia Silver and Tela Skinner, the Writing Lounge is open to anyone who is interested in writing.
Whether youre a seasoned author interested in participating in the writing community or someone who just wants to get some memories down on paper, youll find a welcoming environment, said Silver.

Theres no commitment necessary drop in as often, or infrequently, as you like, added Skinner.
Each session is $3 for the two and a half hours.
Silver has a Ph.D. in English language and literature from New York University and taught writing at the university level, specializing in writing support to faculty, students and staff on an individual basis. She recently started a business called Your Own Writing Assistant (http://yourownwritingassistant.com), which provides beginning-to-end support for business, academic and personal writing projects.
Skinner is a longtime volunteer with the Manzanita Writers Series and organizer of the Burgess Group, a local writing critique group. In addition, she is on the editorial team of the North Coast Squid, a journal of local writing. She also volunteers for the library.
