CANNON BEACH With spectacular Haystack Rock as a backdrop, the Cannon Beach Childrens Center 5K/10K Walk/Run makes its fourth annual showing Saturday, Sept. 21, featuring a scenic course for runners and walkers.

There will be a pre-event packet pickup, late registration and spaghetti dinner at 5 p.m. Friday, Sept. 20 at the Cannon Beach Chamber of Commerce, located at 207 Spruce St.

Race day check-in and packet pickup starts at 5 a.m. at the Canon Beach Chamber of Commerce. The walk/run begins at 7 a.m. Saturday. The 10K route is south along the beach to Tolovana Park and then north along Hemlock Street through Cannon Beachs picturesque town center before returning to the beach at Second Street. The 5K course is ideal for families and walkers with a beach route from start to finish. Pets are allowed at both the 5K and the 10K.

The event benefits the Cannon Beach Preschool and Childrens Center, a nonprofit organization serving North Coast families and focusing on the care and education of infants, toddlers and preschoolers.

It costs $50 for adults in the 5K or 10K; it costs $25 for students in the 5K or 10K.
