Grow the Coast conference promotes local food skills

NEHALEM – Online registration is now open for Grow the Coast, a conference about local food production and skills building from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. Saturday, Nov. 3, at the North County Recreation District building, 36155 Ninth St. Presenters will offer a day of engaging and educational sessions arranged around the ideas of growing and using the abundance of food that can be produced on the North Coast.

Topics range from pasture management to pest management, new farmers to new legislation, mushrooms to mead and more. Whether you are a small farmer seeking specific production information, a chef or restaurant hoping to connect with area producers, a gardener, a forager, or just interested in supporting healthy local food systems, Grow the Coast is sure to have something to whet your appetite.

Tickets for the conference are $15 per person or $25 for two people from the same farm or business, and include a lunch highlighting food sourced from local producers. Register at www.growthecoast.eventbrite.com
