SEASIDE – Seaside High School Drama, in association with Coaster Theatre, announces its fall play, “Three Little Pigs and the Big Bad Wolf,” an original interpretation geared expressly toward families and children.

This production is in two parts. The first act is an interpretation of the “original” fairy tale and is directed by former SHS drama student Juan Lira. The second act is loosely based on the well-known children’s book “The True Story of the Three Little Pigs by A. Wolf,” as told to Jon Scieska, which they will present to show there are two sides to every story (even though the little pigs do not actually get eaten in the first act). The second act is directed by Holly Sacket, ASPIRE coordinator at SHS. Lenore Morrisson oversees the production, with scenic design by Craig Shepherd, costumes by Kirstin Whitlock and makeup design by Cindy Pease. Phil White lends his always helpful hand.

The cast has been busily creating the storyline of the play and has put a teenage twist on it. The main characters – three little pigs, mama pig, big bad wolf and a reporter – have been updated but remain just as lovable as ever. There are 15 students in the cast, playing everything from pigs to skunks to a reluctant narrator, and the play includes a big production number. This show is sure to have something to entertain all children from 5 to 95 and there is some audience participation involved. For instance, the wolf will need some help huffing and puffing down those little houses. It is truly a collaborative creative endeavor.

The cast includes Cody Carmichael, Christopher Moulton, Abigail Anderson, Madeline Schultz, Connor Forrest, Shelby Moulton, Shannon Macomb, Jayson Strozzi, Joslyn Marston, Anthony Pappas, Justine Holloway, Mitchell Stephens, Trevor Dean, Zoae Finucane, Mackenzie Walgren and Jake Strozzi. Technical staff includes Jenny Liu, Jessica Brown, Clara Sroufe, Rachael Leroux, Sam Nelson and Noah Clark. Mckenzie Hutson choreographed the big finale production number.

In addition to all the fun on the stage, the SHS Culinary Arts students will be preparing special desserts for a “pig out” during closing weekend, on Friday and Saturday, Nov. 12 and 13. So come on out and support the students and be entertained and sample some delicious treats. It’s sure to be a play to be remembered.

Performances will be at 7 p.m. Nov. 5, 6, 11, 12 and 13 at the high school, 1901 Holladay Drive. Tickets are $5 general admission and $3 for students with an ASB card and for all elementary school students. For further information, call (503) 738-5586 and ask for Lenore Morrisson.
