- Astoria Lions to hold annual candy sale
Members of the Astoria Lions Club are running the club’s annual “Sweet on Sight” See’s Candy Holiday Sale at the Hauer’s Cyclery store, 1606 Marine Drive. The sale is open from 3 to 7 p.m. Mondays through Fridays and noon to 7 p.m. Saturdays and Sundays through Dec. 23.

Boxed one-pound assortments are available in five varieties: Assorted Chocolates, Milk Chocolates, Nuts and Chews, Dark Chocolates and Soft Centers. A limited supply of See’s Peanut Brittle can be reserved. Multi-box orders can be reserved by calling club treasurer Nancy Lockett at (503) 325-5899. Each box is $15.
Proceeds of the sale are used to provide glasses for local residents unable obtain them otherwise, to support the Lion’s Eye Bank of Oregon and the Lions Clubs International Foundation, and to assist community organizations meet local needs. According to Russ Thompson, president of the Astoria Lions Club, “Money raised from the sale will allow Lions to help meet pressing needs in our community including the food bank, hospice, youth programs and ‘camperships’ for diabetic youth. Lions members thank everyone who supports this important work. You truly help Lions make a difference in our community.”
The Astoria Lions Club has 52 members and meets at 6:30 p.m. Wednesdays at the Astoria Elks Lodge, 453 11th St. Lions clubs are groups of men and women who identify needs within their communities and work together to fulfill those needs.
