Run or walk to benefit Wahkiakum 4-H

SKAMOKAWA, Wash. – The Wahkiakum 4-H Council will hold its 24th annual Great White Tail Run Saturday, May 17. The run is a family event with course distances of 10K, 5K and 2 miles to walk or run at the Julia Butler Hansen National Wildlife Refuge between Cathlamet and Skamokawa. Pre-registration is recommended. Registration starts at Skamokawa Vista Park at 8:30 a.m., with the run starting at 10 a.m.

Awards will be given to the top female and male in the 10K and 5K and ribbons are given to the top three places in each age division for all three distances. The registration fees are $10 for pre-run without the commemorative T-shirt or $20 with shirt; $12 day of run without shirt or $25 with shirt. There is a family and youth group discount, with the first two entries of an immediate family or group at the regular price and each additional entry $3 off the regular price.

This year, a dog division has been added. For an additional $1, participants bringing their dog(s) can compete for awards in this division.

In Astoria, registration forms can be found at Bikes and Beyond, The Blue Scorcher Bakery, Papa Jacks, the OSU Extension Office and Fred Meyer. All proceeds will benefit the Wahkiakum 4-H program.
