Visual artist Jennifer Goodenberger presents a solo show of new fiber art, “The Mystical World,” March 25 through April 28, at Grace Episcopal Church. There will be an opening reception from 11 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. Sunday, March 30.

The wall hangings/tapestries Goodenberger creates use silk, batik or metallic cotton fabric, with designs outlined in beads. They are inspired by archetypal symbols and images. She is influenced by designs from both ancient and world cultures. “The Mystical World” will include designs inspired by Southwest Indian petroglyphs, Tibetan mandalas, the Irish “Book of Kells” and sacred geometry. In addition, she has created images of designs which she calls “sound symbols.” These are images that are created when sound waves interact with each other. Goodenberger will discuss and explain the meanings behind her art during the opening reception.

Grace Episcopal Church is located at 1545 Franklin Ave. For more information, call (503) 325-8855. More of Goodenberger’s artworks can be seen at www.jennifergoodenberger.com
