‘Taste of Wahkiakum’ shows off region’s virtues

CATHLAMET, Wash. – The Wahkiakum Chamber of Commerce hosts its second annual “Taste of Wahkiakum” from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. Saturday, May 27, at the Cathlamet Marina.

The event provides a chance for local artists, crafters, restaurants, bed and breakfasts and the local Farmers Market to show the yacht club members and other visitors what the area has to offer.

Highlights include a book signing from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. with Irene Martin, author of “Beach of Heaven: A History of Wahkiakum County,” a performance by the Naselle School District Marimba Band from 2 to 4 p.m., exhibits of Treasure Collupy’s glass art and wine tasting with Capstone Cellars Winery. Rodney Prestegard’s double-ended gillnetter (butterfly boat) from the 1900’s will also be on display. For information, call Muriel Prestegard at (360) 795-3700.
